Last Saturday, Bernalillo County Sheriff's Deputy Robin Hopkins, was injured in the line of duty. A wackjob decided to try to kill a bunch of police officers and Deputy Hopkins was one of those he targeted when she attempted to stop him from committing further harm.
Robin has a long, hard road ahead of her in recovering from her injuries. I consider her a friend and one of the nicest people that I know. True salt-of-the-earth kind of person.
And frankly, she is exactly the kind of police officer that we need far more of. Tough, no-nonsense, ready to throw down when needed but with lots of heart.
